Common Questions

  • How much for a tiler to tile a kitchen?
  • Sydney floors typically run $55–$110/m² plus GST, splashbacks from ~$800 plus GST, more for feature patterns or premium materials. We quote fixed, on site, free.
  • How much do tilers charge in Sydney?
Around $55–$120/m² plus GST for standard labour; waterproofing, prep and removal itemised separately. Small detailed jobs cost more per metre.
  • What is the 3-4-5 rule for tiling?
  • A square-check: measure 3 along one wall, 4 along the other; the diagonal should be exactly 5. We use it on set-out so lines run true.
  • How much does a tiler charge per square metre?
Roughly $55–$120/m² plus GST standard, $120–$250/m² plus GSTfor stone, glass or large-format. Depends on tile size, prep and access.
  • What deposit should I pay before work starts?
10% to secure the booking is normal, balance on completion. — under the Home Building Act the max upfront deposit is capped; be wary of anyone wanting most of the cost first.
  • Cheaper to tile or use a slab splashback?
A tiled splashback is usually cheaper than glass or stone slab, and easier to repair. Depends on tile and pattern.
  • How long does a kitchen job take?
Splashback 1–2 days; full floor 2–3 days, plus drying for waterproofing and grout. Firm timeline at quote.
  • Do you do the waterproofing too?
Yes — in-house to AS 3740:2021, certificate supplied. It’s the part most jobs get wrong before we see them.
  • Best tiles for a kitchen floor?
Porcelain or ceramic with a sensible slip rating — durable, easy to clean. Large-format looks modern but needs a flat substrate.
  • Supply my own tiles or have you supply them?
Either. We can source from Sydney suppliers, or lay yours. Order 10–15% extra for cuts and future repairs.
  • How do I check a tiler is licensed and insured?
Ask for the NSW licence number and check the register; ask to see public liability cover. Ours is 206514C, fully insured, HIA.
