Frequently Asked Questions
Are you actually local to Ryde? Yes, genuinely. Our workshop is on Forsyth Street, West Ryde, and the business has been based in the district for over five decades. This is our home turf, not an outer edge of a service area.
Why do tiled floors crack in Ryde? The plateau sits on Wianamatta shale that weathers into reactive clay, which swells and shrinks with the seasons and cracks tiles laid straight onto the slab. We use crack isolation membranes and movement joints to deal with it, and the sandstone river-fall blocks need different preparation again.
Do you renovate post-war bathrooms? Constantly. The district’s post-war brick homes are at renovation age, and the original bathrooms usually have failed or absent waterproofing. We strip back, rebuild the falls and membrane to AS 3740 before retiling.
Do you do apartment and strata tiling? Yes, across Shepherds Bay, Meadowbank, Top Ryde and the station precincts. We tile unit bathrooms and balconies and carry out compliant strata remediation, working in with owners corporations and building access.
